Egypt’s Red Sea is a diver’s paradise with the resort of Sharm el Sheikh, on the Red Sea coast, a natural haunt for divers. The national marine park of Ras Mohammed is thought by many to be one of the finest dive sites in the world.
The Caribbean is simply spoilt for choice for dive centres – the British Virgin Islands alone having over 100 dive sites and St Lucia and Bermuda meriting particular interest.
The warm tropical seas of the Indian Ocean provide ideal conditions for an astonishing variety of marine life and outstanding diving potential. The paradise islands of the Maldives are surrounded by superb underwater reefs, which are home to a variety of colourful corals and fish, and are considered by many to be the best dive sites in the world – while the Seychelles, said by many to be second only to the Maldives for diving potential, offer a wide choice of dive sites for all levels of experience. The Kenya coast, Tanzania and Mauritius too offer superb diving with unspoilt coral gardens, crystal clear water, calm seas, colourful reefs and a vast array of varied marine life. The diving in Sri Lanka is diverse and there is an abundance of marine life and dive sites to suit all experience levels. Big Groupers, Barracuda, Jacks, dogtooth Tunas, blue ridged angels, lobsters & turtles are just some of the sea creatures to be seen. A large number of wrecks have floundered during past monsoon seasons adding to the range of dives available.

Some of the best dive sites in the Maldives are around Helengeli Island and Lily Beach. Both are renowned for their beauty and rich marine life. Helengeli was one of the first diving islands in the Maldives, with its own beautiful house reef and has an excellent reputation amongst divers. Likewise Lily beach has a superb house reef and Sharks & manta rays can be seen regularly.

Dive Bandos is one of the oldest and most established dive centres in the Maldives. Due to its central location in the southern part of the North Male Atoll, dive sites include areas such as Banana Reef, Barracuda Giri, Victory Wreck, Paradise rock, and Old Shark point. This location provides an excellent variety of dives in beautiful conditions.

This Atoll offers something for all divers and is famous for it’s unspoiled reefs and great variation of dive sites. Highlight dives including “The Shipyard” features 2 wrecks at the same place, which are full of soft and hard corals. Eagle rays and various species of reef shark are regular sights at the “Kuredu Express” where the drift dive is not for the faint hearted. Famous for abundant marine life, aquamarine lagoons, varied diving and diving activities. Kuredu makes a superb dive holiday location.

What makes diving especially interesting in the Maldives is the rich varied fish life and the fact that when encountered, they show little or no fear of divers. During the monsoon period, particularly May to July, the winds pick up and sea conditions can be quite rough, however diving continues, usually on the leeward side of the atolls It is an ideal environment for filter feeders like mantas and whale sharks. Year round diving is suitable for novice and experienced divers alike.
